CATEGORIES

The Most Creative Portfolio Cover

This category is to recognize the student who has made the best portfolio cover in the 2015-16 academic year. The most important criteria for this category is how well the cover reflects the portfolio writing process and how creative it is. Students can nominate themselves by posting a clear picture of the porfolio cover they made in track 1, 2 or 3 with the hashtag #PrepClassOscars2016 on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram by 6 May 2016. The jury will first choose the best 8-10 portfolio covers among all nominations. Then students and instructors can vote for their favorite between 13 – 27 May on ydy.yasar.edu.tr . The winner will be selected jointly by voting and the Oscars jury.  To get an idea, here are the #PrepClassOscars2015 nominees:

TAYANÇ DEMİRTÜRK (2)

The Best IS Portfolio

This category is to recognize students who have made great IS portfolios in the 2015-16 academic year. Instructors will be asked to choose the best SAP or post-unit production task from track 1 and 2 by taking into consideration students’ progress and creativity and submit them to the Co-curricular Activities Office (Berrin Alpınar & Özge Köroğlu, Room: 507) by 6 May 2016. Students will be free to vote for their candidates between 13 – 27 May on ydy.yasar.edu.tr, but the ultimate decision will be made by the Oscars jury.

 

The Best Progress

This category is to award students who have made outstanding progress in the 2015-16 academic year. When choosing the winner, students’ track 1, 2 and 3 (until midterm) averages will be taken into account. The student who has made the most notable progress since he/she started the Prep Class will be recognized. However, instructors can also nominate a student who they think deserves this recognition simply by giving that student’s name to the Co-curricular Activities Office by 6 May 2016. The ultimate decision will be made by the Oscars jury taking into consideration students’ exam results and their instructors’ comments.

 

Knock Knock! 

This category is to award students who have knocked on their instructors’ doors regularly in their office hours . Instructors are kindly asked to tell the Co-curricular Activities Office the names of the students who have made the maximum number of visits during office hours (an estimated number of visits should be reported) by May 6 at the latest. The ultimate decision will be made by the Oscars jury taking into consideration the number of visits by 6 May.

 

24/7 Guy

This category is to award students who have the lowest number of absences in the 2015-16 academic year. Students’ attendance records in track 1, 2 and 3 will be referred to in order to choose the winner. The ultimate decision will be made by the Oscars jury taking into consideration the number of absences by the end of May.

 

Learning English Has No Age

This category is to recognize students older than our regular student profile who have demonstrated great effort to learn English. Instructors are kindly asked to tell the Co-curricular Activities Office (Berrin Alpınar & Özge Köroğlu) the names of their students who they think deserve this award along with some feedback on their achievements by May 6. The ultimate decision will be made by the Oscars jury taking into consideration instructors’ comments and students’ assessment results.

 

The Most Creative Class Selfie

This category is to award class spirit and creativity. Students can nominate their classes by posting class selfies with the hashtag #PrepClassOscars2016 on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram by May 6 2016. Students and instructors will vote for their favorite between 13 – 27 May on ydy.yasar.edu.tr. The winner will be decided by the Oscars jury considering the number of votes each class has received and its creativity.

The Best Voice

This category is to award students with a singing talent. Students can nominate themselves by recording their live singing performance. The video must be at least 2 minutes long. Students should bring their video to the Co-curricular Activities Office (Berrin Alpınar & Özge Köroğlu, Room: 507) on a USB stick by 6 May. After all videos are collected, the best 10 videos will be published on Yaşar University Prep Class Official Youtube Account. Students and instructors will vote for their favorite between 13 – 27 May on ydy.yasar.edu.tr. The winner will be decided by the Oscars jury considering the number of votes each student has received. The winner will sing live at the Prep Class Oscars on 2 July 2016.

The Best Vine Video

This category is to recognize creative students. Students will shoot a creative Vine video in English. It should not exceed 3 minutes. To nominate yourself you must post your Vine video with the hashtag #PrepClassOscars2016 on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram by 6 May. Students will select the winner by voting between 13 – 27 May.

The Best Dance Performance

This category is to recognize creative students with dancing talents. Students can nominate themselves by recording their live dance performances. It can be either a solo or group performance and should not exceed 4 minutes. The video must be recorded specifically for the Prep Class Oscars. Students should bring their video to the Co-curricular Activities Office (Berrin Alpınar & Özge Köroğlu, Room: 507) on a USB stick by 6 May 2016. After all videos are collected, the best videos will be published on Yaşar University Prep Class Official Youtube Account. Students will select the winner by voting between 13 – 27 May on ydy.yasar.edu.tr.

The Best Short Movie @ Yaşar

This category is to recognize creative students who are talented in visual design and filming. Students can nominate themselves by recording their short films in English. The video must be shot on campus and must not exceed 5 minutes. Students are free to choose the genre and the theme. Spoken or written language must be culturally and socially sensitive and unbiased. Students should bring their video to the Co-curricular Activities Office (Berrin Alpınar & Özge Köroğlu, Room: 507) on a USB stick by May 6. After all videos are collected, the best videos will be published on Yaşar University Prep Class Official Youtube Account. The winning video will be selected jointly by student votes and the Oscars jury.

BFF

This category is to award friendship and creativity. Students should post their photos with their best friend forever (BFF) with the hashtag #PrepClassOscars2016 on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram by 6 May 2016. They must write captions in English under their photo that describe their friendship in a few words. Winners will be selected jointly by student votes and the Oscars jury.
